Vikram Rajan ji #Reviews I have been waiting to eat a karonda achar for close to 15 years now. Every punjabi dhaba I’ve eaten in, in india had a huge container of mixed veg achar to eat with rotis and sabjis. I would dig through the pickle to find just the karonde and eat them. In a decade plus that I spent in New York also, I would go to cabbie joints and ask specifically if their achaar had karonde in them. The problem was that it was almost impossible to a) find this in South India since no one knew what a karonda was and b) I myself had to Google the actual biological name and still couldn’t find the pickle. Finally Masala Monk advertised this and I couldn’t control my emotions. It finally arrived in an oily outside box and I immediately rushed to open it. Once I ate my first bite with a roti, I went misty eyed. The balance of flavors was just right. The chili served the perfect hum of heat on one’s tongue and each karonda exploded with gusto in my mouth. I hadn’t ordered from Masala Monk because the reviews all were universally excellent about the taste but reviews were negative about the shipping costs.
