My top 3 skincare fails of 2025 — and the 3 lessons they taught me. Because sometimes “didn’t work” isn’t the issue… sometimes it’s what you didn’t see coming. 1) Read the INCI — marketing can be a costume. If a brand calls something a “skin polish,” don’t assume it’s gentle. Sometimes it’s just a bleach-y formula dressed up in prettier language. If you don’t read the ingredient list, you’re trusting adjectives, not chemistry. 2) Don’t over-romanticize “natural / herbal / traditional.” Natural doesn’t automatically mean stable. Some artisanal or “heritage” formulations can have weak preservation systems, which means higher chances of irritation, breakouts, or just a product turning on you (yes, my 100-times-washed ghee moment 😭) by Nabhi Sutra. 3) Viral in another country ≠ compatible with your skin barrier. Trends travel faster than skin science. A product can be iconic somewhere else and still be a complete mismatch for your barrier (hello, baking soda face wash… WHY).
